Asian Wake Park Tour 2011 Singapore Presented By Quiksilver & Roxy

The Wakeboard Association (Singapore) is organizing the 2nd stop of the Asian Wake Park Tour 2011 pesented by Quiksilver & Roxy in Singapore on 24 September 2011. It also incorporates the Singapore Wake Park Championship. It promises to display more exciting wakeboarding and wakeskating action than ever before seen in Singapore.

The AWPT will incorporate several categories from both the Amateur and Pro divisions. Riders from all around Asia will battle to seal their place in the tour rankings for 2011.

The site of the Championship will be at the SKI360° Cableski Park located at the beautiful East Coast Park (next to the Seafood Centre). The Championship weekend guarantees to be will be no less than electrifying as good music and good food are served up to riders and spectators alike. So come on down and witness some of the top riders in Asia catch some big air with their impossible aerial maneuvers and grind their way through the weekend for the Asian Wake Park Tour Singapore title!

To cap it off the award ceremony will be held on Sunday night 25 September 2011 at Attica, Clarke Quay. A great way to cap of an exciting weekend!


THE CATEGORIES:
NOTE : Only riders residing in Asia for at least 1 year are eligible to compete.

PRO CATEGORIES :-
• Pro Mens Wakeboard
• Pro Womens Wakeboard
• Pro Wakeskate
* No trick restrictions for all Pro categories

AMATEUR CATEGORIES :-
• Mens Novice Wakeboard - Max. 1 air invert or spin off obstacle or flats
• Mens Intermediate Wakeboard - Max. 3 air invert or spin off obstacle or flats
• Mens Advance Wakeboard - Max. 6 air invert or spin off obstacle or flats
• Mens Amateur Wakeskate - No more than 180 shuvs, no flip tricks
• Womens Novice Wakeboard - No air invert or spin off obstacle or flats
• Womens Intermediate Wakeboard - Max. 1 air invert or spin off obstacle or flats
• Womens Amateur Wakeskate - No more than 180 shuvs, no flip tricks

Amateur Wakeboard Restrictions example:
• Max 3 invert or spin restriction means, rider can maybe do 2 flat inverts & 1 kicker spin. Or, 1 kicker invert, 1 kicker spin & 1 flat invert, etc.
• Spins are 360 or more. Restriction does not apply to surface spins on water or obstacles.


THE RUN:

A running order for all riders will be first determined. The rider will begin his pass once he leaves the Starting Dock. The rider will complete one full round and will finish off his run at the kickers closest to the starting dock. Tricks can be performed anywhere in the course with no limit to the number of tricks executed.


THE FORMAT:

Each competitor will only have 1 pass. Wakeboarders will be allowed 1 fall and wakeskaters are allowed 2 falls. Subsequent falls will end the rider’s run. If a rider falls anywhere along the course, another rope & handle will be sent over, and riders are expected to perform a water start from their point of fall to continue with his pass. A fall during a water start will be counted as a fall. Also, a rider’s pass will end if he falls after he has passed the final corner (the corner nearest to the start dock) even if he still has fall allowances. Riders will be judged on Obstacles (30%), Flat Tricks (30%) and Composition (40%).

- Add S$30 if you are registering for both Wakeboard & Wakeskate categories

All competitors will be entitled to the following:
- Complimentary 1 hr Weekday Pass
- Unlimited riding after 7pm on 24 September 2011
- Event T-shirt

0800HR - Registration
0830HR - Novice & Intermediate Wakeboard Categories
1030HR - Amateur Wakeskate & Advance Wakeboard Categories
1200HR - Pro Wakeboard & Wakeskate Categories
1400HR - All Final Rounds
1900HR - Free Riding for all Competitors

Riders must check-in on site at least 30 min before their respective category qualification time slot.

Sunday 25 September @ Attica, Clarke Quay
- Prize Giving, Party & Lucky Draw will be at night. Exact time to be confirmed!

The Wakeboard Association of Singapore is organizing a wakeboard clinic for riders of all levels at the end of January 2011.

Whether you're learning how to get up on the board, jumping a wake or trying a backroll to blind, this will be the perfect opportunity to learn as well as getting to know more riders like yourself!

You will receive specialized instruction from an experienced instructor and each boat will have a WBA representative to make sure everything goes right.

News : New WBA President

The WBA is pleased to announce the election of its new President, Mr Tan Chun Yih. Chun has been active and well-recognised in the wakeboard scene from his days as president of the NTU Wakeboard Club. Together with the support of the executive committee and Chun’s enthusiasm and dedication toward wakeboarding, one can look forward to an energetic and vibrant local wakeboard scene.

The outgoing president, Mr David Ngiam will be stepping down due to personal work commitments.
