The Asian Wake Park Championships and the final stop of the Asian Wake Park Tour was held at the Camsur Watersports Complex in Phillipines on 30 Oct - 1 Nov 2009. Singapore had a team of 8 wakeboarders and wakeskaters that participated in this tournament.
Cam Sur was actually hit by a typhoon the day before the competition weekend, but come Saturday, the skies cleared up and it was nice & sunny and the riders were blessed with great riding conditions where everyone could throw down their best runs.
With some of the best riders in Asia in one of the best wake parks in the world, there was a show case of some amazing world-class talent that’s coming out of Asia. The competition was intense, particularly in the Head-to-Head rounds of the Pro Mens division, but in all, everyone was stoked for each other and it was a great opportunity for the Asian wakeboard and wakeskate community to catch up and party together.
Overall, Team Singapore did pretty good, coming away with a number of podium finishes for the Championships. With the conclusion of the Asian Wake Park Tour as well, Singapore saw our own Alex Bennett-Leat come away with 3rd place on the Tour for both Mens Open Wakeboard and Open Wakeskate, while Jaimi Oxlade and Janice Teo coming in 2nd & 3rd place on the tour respectively for the Womens Wakeboard.
